A Place to Grow

At Edison Montessori Preschool, we provide a nurturing and engaging Montessori learning environment for children ages 2 to 6. Our mixed-age classrooms encourage younger children to learn from older peers while building independence, confidence, and strong social skills. Through hands-on learning in practical life, language, math, science, and the arts, children develop curiosity, creativity, and a solid foundation for lifelong learning. Guided by experienced Montessori-certified teachers, each child progresses at their own pace in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Cultural

Cultural Activities are a specific extension of the language curriculum where children begin to acquire a sense of historical fact, classification of physical geography and an appreciation of cultural differences.

Practical Life

Practical Life is the study of self-help skills and focuses on the four major areas, Care of Self, Care of Environment, Grace and Courtesy, and Movement.

Sensorial

Sensorial uses a multi-sensory approach to education. Children are encouraged to learn by processing information gathered through the senses.

Math

Math continues the cognitive math development that began in the Practical Life Skills and Sensorial curriculum, taking an acute focus and more abstract thinking process with concrete materials.

Programs

Preschool
Our preschool program brings children ages 2 to 6 together in a dynamic mixed-age classroom that encourages collaboration and peer learning. Younger children develop language and social skills by observing older classmates, while older students build confidence by mentoring younger peers. Through hands-on Montessori materials, children explore practical life activities, sensorial learning, language development, and mathematics while also enjoying science, art, music, and storytelling. We also introduce Spanish and Mandarin during circle time to encourage cultural awareness. For physical development and teamwork, children ages 3 to 6 may participate in a weekly soccer program offered during the Fall and Spring seasons.

Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten
Our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs build on the Montessori preschool foundation to prepare children for continued academic success. Following the California Common Core Content Standards, our curriculum includes English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Health. These subjects are taught using Montessori materials and principles, allowing children to strengthen critical thinking, independence, and problem-solving skills while developing confidence and readiness for elementary education.
