Our Programs

Academic programming

Edison Montessori Preschool provides a nurturing, stimulating Montessori environment for children ages 2 to 6. Our mixed-age classroom helps younger children learn through observation and interaction with older peers, while older children build confidence and leadership by supporting younger classmates.

We focus on hands-on learning that builds independence, confidence, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Preschool Program (Multi-Age: Ages 2–6)

Our preschool program welcomes children ranging from 2 to 6 years old, creating a dynamic mixed-age environment that supports each child’s growth and development. Younger children are inspired by older peers and develop language and social skills through daily interaction. Older children strengthen self-esteem by serving as role models and helping younger classmates.

What children learn (Montessori Curriculum Areas)

Practical Life
A key component of our program is the practical life area, designed to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and independence. Children work on activities such as spooning, pouring, and scooping, building dexterity, focus, and confidence.

Sensorial
Our sensorial activities encourage children to explore and learn through all five senses, supporting cognitive development and helping children better understand the world around them.

Language
We offer a variety of language activities to build strong vocabulary skills. Writing is nurtured through a broad range of engaging exercises that support early literacy development.

Math
Our extensive Montessori math materials support early counting skills and gradually introduce addition and subtraction through hands-on learning.
Global Awareness (Spanish + Mandarin)

To enrich cultural awareness and global understanding, we offer Spanish and Mandarin during circle time, along with cultural areas that promote environmental consciousness.

Science, Art, Music & Story Time
Children enjoy science, art, music, and story time, all of which contribute to holistic development—supporting cognitive, emotional, and social growth.

Sports (Soccer Program)
We offer a soccer program for children ages 3 to 6, held once a week during the Fall and Spring seasons.

Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten

Our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten programs build on the preschool curriculum to support each child’s continued growth and development. California defines transitional kindergarten as “the first year of a two-year kindergarten that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate.”
Edison Montessori School follows the California Common Core Content Standards for:

  • English Language Arts
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies/History
  • Physical Education
  • Health and Safety

To meet these standards, we incorporate a diverse range of Montessori materials while staying grounded in Montessori principles and philosophy.
